About IQAC

Gurucharan University (erstwhile Gurucharan College) bears a glorious legacy of more than nine decades in fostering quality higher education and driving holistic societal change. Over the years the institution witnessed many inevitable structural changes necessary for its continuous growth and development. Of late the college has been upgraded to a state University. Maintaining and improving overall quality of the academics and administration has always been the priority of the institution. Various committees and bodies had been constituted time to time to function and monitor regular academic activity, execution and implementation of plans and programmes for quality enhancement. To bring an integrated approach for better maintenance of quality standard, the "Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)" was established in erstwhile college on 21st September, 2005. The IQAC was constituted as per the guidelines of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore and UGC. The aims and objective of IQAC is to create, nurture and maintain a sturdy system that encourages and ensures a rapid but durable development of the institution in the ever changing global academic scenario. The role of IQAC becomes more relevant in the context of upgrdation of the college to a University.

The efficient functioning of academic and administrative aspects of the University require effective planning, judicious resource management and proactive delivery system. In this perspective the IQAC plays a pivotal role. It aims to guarantee a consistent progress and development by providing a vibrant academic ambience, transparent financial operations and effective administrative functioning.

In pursuance of the directives of the University Grants Commission, New Delhi, vide Letter F.No.20-1/2009 (IUC) Dated 23rd July 2009 and guidelines of NAAC, the Vice Chancellor of Guruchrana University, constituted the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the University under his Chairmanship, through a Notification dated 12th 2026 appointing 12 members with the Director of the IQAC as Member Secretary. The IQAC of Gurucharan University is consistently and persistently acting with missionary zeal in the spirit of NAAC guidelines to achieve its visionary goal. The IQAC of the Gurucharan University has adopted the vision, objectives, strategies and functional guidelines as provided in the IQAC Manual of NAAC.

To ensure quality culture as the prime concern for the University through institutionalizing and internalizing all the initiatives taken with internal and external support.

Objective

The primary aim of IQAC is

• To develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic action to improve the academic and administrative performance of the institution.
• To promote measures for institutional functioning towards quality enhancement through internalization of quality culture and institutionalization of best practices.

Strategies

IQAC shall evolve mechanisms and procedures for

• Ensuring timely, efficient and progressive performance of academic, administrative and financial tasks;
• Relevant and quality academic/ research programmes;
• Equitable access to and affordability of academic programmes for various sections of society;
• Optimization and integration of modern methods of teaching and learning;
• The credibility of assessment and evaluation process;
• Ensuring the adequacy, maintenance and proper allocation of support structure and services;
• Sharing of research findings and networking with other institutions in India and abroad.

Functions

Some of the functions expected of the IQAC are:

• Development and application of quality benchmarks
• Parameters for various academic and administrative activities of the institution;
• Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive to quality education and faculty maturation to adopt the required knowledge and technology for participatory teaching and learning process;
• Collection and analysis of feedback from all stakeholders on quality-related institutional processes;
• Dissemination of information on various quality parameters to all stakeholders;
• Organization of inter and intra institutional workshops, seminars on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles;
• Documentation of the various programmes/activities leading to quality improvement;
• Acting as a nodal agency of the Institution for coordinating quality-related activities, including adoption and dissemination of best practices;
• Development and maintenance of institutional database through MIS for the purpose of maintaining /enhancing the institutional quality;
• Periodical conduct of Academic and Administrative Audit and its follow-up
• Preparation and submission of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) as per guidelines and parameters of NAAC
